The Big Affiliate Marketing Handbook has been released and published for 2014 by the IAB Affiliate Marketing Council and is available in physical or downloadable format.

The Big Affiliate Marketing Handbook provides a detailed guide through the affiliate marketing landscape and what it has to offer.

Affiliate Marketing is one of the most diverse online marketing channels that is continuously developing and expanding its reach through new innovations and marketing opportunities.

Aimed primarily at advertisers or people that are new to the industry, the level of detail provided is substantial and even includes a glossary, defining industry buzzwords and acronyms.

The handbook has been crafted by the IAB Affiliate Marketing Council, with input from some of the UK industry’s leading figures from a combination of agencies, networks and other online players.

Unlike other affiliate marketing guides, this definitive guide provides an A to Z of affiliate basics, best practise models and strategies. Chapters include: the value, optimising program performance, industry regulations and guidelines as well as future trends in the affiliate marketing industry.

A full version of The Affiliate Marketing Handbook can be downloaded here.

UDG’s UK Director Jules Bazley, UK Director, has contributed to the production of the handbook by producing a section on the ‘The Value of Affiliate Data’ in conjunction with David Ayre of Tradedoubler.

This section briefly discusses what data is collected within the affiliate channel and how this can be used to improve performance marketing strategies, develop multi-channel campaigns and enhance brand exposure.

This section is soon to be followed by an IAB’s white paper discussing ‘the value of affiliate data produced by UDG, Tradedoubler and the IAB. The white paper itself is the first of its kind from the IAB and includes a collaboration of insights from publishers such as Quidco and leading advertiser brands such as Virgin Atlantic Airways and Morrison’s.

“The value of Affiliate Data white paper has been an eye opening project that is long overdue. The paper gives a detailed view of what data is collected and how it is used currently to improve user journeys and optimize promotional strategies. At the same time it integrates testimonials and case studies from industry leaders to discuss the future of data within the channel” states Jules Bazley.

More information on this will be available here over the coming weeks as the paper is officially released.
